I did not plan to end up in AI. For most of my career I was doing completely different work, and if you had told me five years ago that I would be inside Fortune 500 executive teams helping them navigate AI strategy, I would have laughed.

I co-founded Outport AI with my business partner Bennett, where we consult Fortune 500 leaders in finance, payments, marketing, defense, and restaurants/QSR on AI strategy, governance, vendor evaluation, and executive training. Day to day, I am inside real executive teams figuring out which AI tools are worth buying, which ones are snake oil, what compliance guardrails actually matter, and how to train a workforce through the shift without causing panic. Every week. Real clients. Real consequences.

I co-founded EmpowHER AI with Bri after we met in another online community and realized we were both watching the same thing happen over and over. Women getting talked over. Women getting sold $2,000 courses by guys they would never actually hire. Women told to “just hire a developer” the second they asked a real question. We built the room we could not find.

If you want another guru, you will hate it here. If you want two practitioners who are actually doing this work and are willing to answer the obvious question, welcome.

Like many of you reading this, my career path has taken me in many unexpected directions over the years and my foray into AI has been no exception.

I began learning about AI after suddenly becoming a widow in 2022. I wasn't sure what “starting over” was going to look like for me, especially after a friend in tech lovingly told me that AI was going to “replace” me within the next five years. (I was writing at the time.) When I realized he may not be wrong, I decided to learn everything I could about AI and get into the space myself.

In early 2024, I started consulting and building AI and automation solutions for SMBs ranging from pillow manufacturers to hedge funds. As of 2026, I have also started designing and selling codebases using AI for people who want to own their own SaaS companies but may not have the technical expertise to design and build a SaaS themselves.

I co-founded EmpowHER AI with Taylor in 2024 after we met in another online community, looked around, and realized we were sick of the competitive, sometimes antagonistic “bro” culture that is so prevalent in online spaces devoted to learning AI. So, we set out to create a positive, comfortable, and supportive environment built for women to learn, grow, and create together.
